Huh. I put my table on its side, put the egg in, and lifted the whole thing up.
I've seen that method suggested before, but didn't you still need a helper to lift it back up or do you just have a strong back?
I have used the Humpty Dumpty method. Take out the firebox and fire ring and cable tie the top to the bottom. Used a 2x4 to keep the bottom from falling out the back and then over she goes. Had a neighbor help (bribed with promise of pulled pork). It was easy with two.

    Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’  Dare to think for yourself.

I missed replying to this. Yes, I had someone help. If I'd've known I needed someone, I probably wouldn't have done it this way, but once everything is sideways you might as well see it through.
  • I bought a demo at an eggfest so I put the Large BGE in the front seat of my pickup and used the seat belt to restrain it.   My wife laughed when I got home.  I then picked it up myself and put it in a plastic kids kayak and pulled it to the back yard over the grass.  Then I put my arms around it and lifted it into the BGE cypress table.  Not a hard thing to do if you have long arms ;)
