2nd Annual Brisket Camp - Oct 17th. THE BAND.

So last year I had Pig Pen and the Pork Chops - a biker band that did cover songs from the 70s to the 90s. They played a 4 hour set starting around 7PM. They were tight and fun.
This year I'd like to book a band, but I would like to do this with the democratic method. I'm thinking a brass band, which is very, very New Orleans. But I probably could get last year's band....they loved the gig - especially since we sent them and their friends home with heavy go-boxes of BBQ and other food.
What I'm not doing is paying for it again, so if I can get a consensus on if we should have a band and if we can get some donations to pay for it (I spent $1000 on the band last year myself)....we can do it again. Otherwise I bought a nice PA system which we'll be using throughout the day and, after all, this is about the food. The music is a bonus.
So if you're attending, and I can get 10 people to donate $100, or 20 to donate $50, we'll get a band. Or whatever you can commit to. I don't mind paying for the venue and the alcohol (been stocking up on that for this event since the last one), etc, but I'm out of my mid-life crisis and I'm not going to dump 2k on this. 1k is fine.

Dammit! If he was going to be in town, I'd put in a call to an old neighbor to stop by and play his horn! But I know that Kermit is out of town that week and weekend!
LBGE since 2014

@DaveRichardson - we already decided we're going to put a bunch of instruments on the stage and let it be open mike all day long. You know Kermit?! Love that guy. He's a HUGE BBQ fanatic.
Regarding said open mic thing....we will also have a large basket of vegetables to regulate the noise from the stage.

I lived next door to him in my post-collegiate days in New Orleans, back when I worked for the Saints. and yes, he loves the BBQ. There was always music playing at his place, all live, all the time....
This is why I have buys like Ketmit playing in the office here in Atlanta right now. Also Tab Benoit - love the Stevie Ray vibe....LBGE since 2014

@DaveRichardson - A friend of mine was Tab Benoit's manager for years.
I used to go to a yearly party at a friend's complex and they hired Kermit when he was in the Rebirth Brass Band - early 90s.
Anyway, would like to get a brass band. One guy down the street is in the Preservation hall brass band, I need to talk to him, he might know someone in my price range.

In my past events Ive felt bad for the band if people are just as happy talking, drinking and not paying that much attention to the band. Like they are just there for back ground music.2-XLs ,MM,blackstone,Ooni koda 16,R&V works 8.5 gallon fryer, express smoker and 40" smoking cajun

@piney Gary, Amy and I are flying in to reduce travel time and kid schedule disruption. We arrive at 11:30 Friday. I've never been to the Crescent City and wanted a little time to explore before getting sloppy with my electronic friends.
Plus with travel points it's only a couple hundy for us both to fly. -

Our designated lawyers owe me big so I'll get some discounted legal representation for guests that go all "frat boy" or whatever, but we'll do a gofundme.com on that one....
