Pit monitoring, Chef alarm vs Maverick

The Maverick ET-73 I purchased 15 years ago gave me the HHH reading recently, toast. Contemplating a Chef Alarm for monitoring cold smoke temps using a Pro-Q and hot plate. The ET-73 was a great unit, used it many of times, in all kinds of conditions. What model is best from Maverick? Lots of options since I bought the ET-73. Are there any other brands that I'm missing? CA is on sale for $49, probes 30% off. May get a pro series pit probe and grate clip? The DOT looks cool too.
thanks
thanks

I've been eyeing some type of monitoring alarm from TW for a while now. My Maverick still works, but I actually want something for inside.
May be time to pull the trigger...thanks!Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ.... -
I have the Maverick, the Chef Alarm and the iGrill2. (I'm an accessory junkie)
I never took the time to learn how to program the Maverick.
The iGrill2 is nice and I like the charting and Bluetooth capability for a long cook, but if I'm outside by the grill there is no need to use it.
I find myself using the Chef Alarm quite often. I do some frying occasionally and I like the fact that is comes with the pot probe clamp. Also, they make an ambient probe and sometimes I find myself using it just to monitor my cooking temp. Super easy programming as well.
Just my 2 cents. -

I have had my Chef Alarm for awhile now and use it all the time. Both inside the kitchen and out side on the Eggs and deep fryer. It is simple and works great. Take a look at all of the temp probes. They are built to last with high temps.Large BGE, MiniMAX BGE, 2 Mini BGE's, R&V Fryer, 36" Blackstone Griddle, Camp Chef Dual Burner 40K BTU StoveBGE ChimineaProsper, TX

Thanks alot guys.
BGC, appreciate the comparison.
Pulling the trigger shortly on an orange CA with extra pit probe. Figured for only $10 more than a DOT, WTH.BrandonQuad Cities
