Alternative to Boston Butt

So we are past Labor Day weekend. My question concerns choice of meat. For chopped/shredded pork, conventional wisdom is to use Boston Butt for smoking. What are improved and better alternatives? And why?

Well the first question is does it need to be pork. If not then clod.

Every time I cook a tenderloin my wife asks why the hell I ever mess with BBQ

Lamb shoulder is great and less greasy. Great with couscous.
Spread the couscous on a large platter and shred the lamb shoulder on top and serve. A sauce over the top makes it even better. -
Like, meat butter.
