Costco special requests

Does anyone know how to get a Costco store to either special order or carry items available at other Costco locations?  I see a number of posts mentioning Costco prime packers, prime tri-tips, and pork belly and unfortunately the Orlando area locations don't stock any of these.  I can't even get a choice packer at these locations.  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

  • I'd call your local Costco and ask them.

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

It's got to be the most random store stocking I have ever seen.  On a July vacation in Honolulu they had prime packers and belly.  Here in Utah neither.  Then a couple of weeks ago I found belly.  Cheap.  No idea why.

I'm sure it all has to do with what their buyers can get price-wise. Plus, I am noticing a lot more Kirkland branded products. Not sure that that directly relates to meat.

Thankfully the New Orleans Costco carries Prime brisket at reasonable prices ($3.59/lb).  Don't know if that will continue or if we're just lucky right now...

I would guess that they would carry it if they had enough demand from customers.  I'd stop by and tell them you'd buy some if they had some.

Talk to the meat department manager. There is a master list with available cuts so ask if they will order something they typically don't. They might have a box of something brought in or they may ask to to take the whole box itself.

If you buy a whole box they generally take off 10-15 cents per pound depending on the cut.

@TMCCGator .... I too live in Orlando and shop at the Costco in Winter Park and Altamonte and I too have asked them to carry full packers and prime packer. They say they will look into it, but never follow through. Apparantly not much demand in our location. So now I buy the packers from Restaurant Depot.

I think it's because we live in the relative bbq desert of Florida.

About 10 years ago I listened to a Costco presentation and at that time, they were able to determine if they would keep a product on their shelf within minutes of them placing it for sale. I am sure there are many other factors but the data mining they had back then was incredible. I'm sure it's much better now.

  • Thanks to all who responded.  I have saved pictures of the Kirkland labels for Prime Packers from other posts and will show them to the local meat manager to see if they can special order or start carrying them.  I'll let you guys know the results.
