I assumed the title would get the attention of my fellow eggers
. Drunken Tomatoes were the result of an abundant garden harvest and the time crunch of hosting a cocktail party. These little gems on a toothpick are addictive and pack a punch. Keep them away from the kids.
Start with your freshest garden cherry tomatoes a size that is the equivalent to one bite. Quickly blanch to remove the skin and shock in ice water for a few seconds. Place the skinned tomatoes on a paper towel to drain. Once you have prepared a sufficient quantity of tomatoes, place them in a lidded container. Pour your favorite vodka/gin/tequila over the tomatoes and refrigerate. Macerate until well chilled.
To serve, place the drained tomatoes in a chilled glass bowl. I garnish with a few grinds of fresh pepper and sprinkle of Fleur de Sel. Depending upon your liquor preference you might consider fresh dill, parsley, thyme etc.
Lastly, any remaining macerating liquor is the cooks treat. Enjoy!
