Ditch that stupid spring clip that holds the thermo in. It's useless and only helps to decalibrate the thermo.
PS, it makes a great spacer for MM drip pan. -

@CDPlaya I have the minimax woo/stone/pan combo from ceramic grill store. I use the spring clip to hold the pan off the stone.

Buying an Egg and reading the forum will cost you $$.
You will put on a couple of pounds since you will be Egging everything you can think of.
Experiment with different smoking woods and lump. The worse it can be is wonderful.
Feed your neighbors and they to will be an Egghead before you know it. One neighbor is and the other is on the fence. I'll give him some more time, but he'll drink the Kool-aid.
