My place setter cracked in half when i put it in the egg. Can I fix it? What can I use in its place.

I don't think you'll have much luck fixing it. Unless the Rutland refractory cement works. I have some, but haven't tried it yet.
If you have a second grid, a pizza stone and some carriage bolts, you could put a grid on the fire ring, put the pizza stone on that and then add carriage bolt "stilts" to the second grid. That's what I'm gonna try when my PS breaks.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I've successfully put a plate setter leg back on with some JB weld - might give that a tryFormerly of Houston, TX - Now Located in Bastrop, TX

How old is it? There's a warranty. Thinking a year. I'm too lazy to look for you, but I'm honest.

See, I'm lazy. @Eggcelsior

Yes, three years. I've had two break, but luckily they were by the legs--so I just cut the other two legs off and made pizza stones.
I have the cast iron one now, so no worries. -
If you have an extra cooking grid you can support the broken PS until you get it replaced. Just a thought.

I bet a cast iron pan would work IF it didn't have a handle! I'll try the jb weld, and try to find a dealer near me. My egg is at least 6 years old. I probably should get a gasket too.

Contact @rrp for the gasket. You can thank me later.

The folks at JB Weld say: Original J-B Weld can withstand a constant temperature of 500º F. The maximum temperature threshold is approximately 600º F for a short term (10 minutes).
Plate setter is exposed to much higher temps.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
I used J-B Weld to fix mine, no problem. I'm using it on my egg as I type this. No worries.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.
