Egg Shelf Height LBGE

Hello,

Sure this has been beat to death and been answered before, but after searching I keep getting conflicting and non-definitive answers.  I have been a lurker on this site for over a year now, but this is my first official post, so take it easy on the new guy ...

My wife bought me a Large Egg for Christmas and with building a house and work, it has sat in the box unused to this point.  I finally have some time over the next couple of weeks and will build a custom table.

My question is the egg shelf height.  I plan on sitting the egg on both (one layer) of fire bricks with a table nest.  My current plan will have the overall table height of 32 1/2".  I have seen the official green egg build sheet that says 15" for the shelf, some people say 17" and a mixture of people saying 16".  I was thinking of a compromise of 16" given the height of the firebrick in combo with the table nest.  What sayeth the eggficianados?

Thanks for any suggestions as I am looking forward to finally unpacking this thing and finally cooking!

How thick is the fire brick and the table nest together?  I've built quite a few tables and with either a concrete paver OR the table nest (both approx. 2" thick/tall), I go with the depth at 16".  That leaves around and inch give or take of clearance for the hinge when the lid is open.  If I was to use both, I could go up to 18" deep, if that makes sense.

I measured one at the dealer before I started building my table (finishing this weekend). From bottom of the table nest feet to the top of the table surface, it can be right around 16-3/4". I am building mine at 16-3/8". This is with the table nest and doesn't account for any extra height from bricks or whatever. Mine will be on tile.

I'm not in front of the nest right now, but I know the firebrick are 1 1/4" tall.  I think I've read the table nest is 2" so the my guess would be a total height of 3 1/4".

I'm sure I could just do the nest and forego the bricks, but the egg will be on a wooden deck that is attached to the house, so I'm just overly cautious.
