Resident told that his barbecue smoke isn't allowed to leave his property

I don't know if this video is current, or accurate. But worth sharing here in case it's both. People are going batshit crazy about their "rights" lately. And every public official is afraid to stand up to the bullsh*t.
Story is...
Bizarre video going viral of a Florida man being told the smoke from his grill is breaking the law! The Pinellas county council official cited a new environmental rule that classifies commercial barbecue cookers as a nuisance because of the odor. Residents cannot let smoke cross property lines!

These guys had a good sense of humor about a stupid neighbor. Best quote was at the end...
"Do you have any other questions?"
"Yeah, uhh, could you go over there and shoot that b*tch?"

Just want to ping this post again because if you didn't watch the YouTube clip above, you'll want to. (based on similar conversations on this forum regarding HOA grill restrictions and such)

I think I read the same situation was being faced by Franklins BBQ in Texas. We live in the country and they spread manure a couple of times a year and we accept that is the price we pay for having such nice area to live but others complain. The farmer isn't doing it to annoy us, he has to earn a living.

where does it say he is running a bbq cooker commercially like the law states
where is the cooker pic, the business, the shack, the lines of people, his business license, or is he cooking a hotdog for the kids

Sure is challenging to love thy neighbor as thy self when thy neighbor is a raging b!tch.

It is ridiculous...
The councilman with the clipboard is just doing his job and kept a good attitude.
The guy BBQing also kept a level head at the absurdity of the complaint.
The problem is the idiot neighbor who complained and the local government that sent out the councilman with his clipboard. Absolutely ridiculous!

My dealer posted this on Facebook this weekend. This just plane stupid. The story says commercial smoker, these guys probably aren't selling their BBQ and there for it isn't commercial and you can smell BBQ with out there being smoke. It is a dumb law. If they take you to court bring some BBQ for the judge, that should win your case. @NPHuskerFL is this anywhere near you? Weren't they trying the same thing in Texas?

Good thing my neighbors like me. They're vegetarians and I have a fan that blows my egg smoke into their yard.

No vegetarians around me. We all grill out and of course it would be a silly law in KC.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Return the favor when they start boiling cabbage. That is clearly a sign that Cthulhu lives. But fear not. The Egg is one of the lesser of the elder gods, and will stand between you and the hooves of broccoli!!!nolaegghead said:Good thing my neighbors like me. Here is the video I found that shows the white smoke. I think this is the one that @beteez was referring to:

Have mercy! I always have some white smoke when I first light the egg. What am I doing wrong????BGE novice...A Southern Belle living in Seattle.

Interesting take on this from the article @beteez posted and other links from it.
I'm sure we are not getting both sides of the story, but it does sound like she is overreacting and if she has a camera pointed at his house then she can just capture moments there is smoke in the cooking.
I wonder what he's cooking? They never say. If there is a lot of smoke it is probably a large quantity of sauced chicken on an open grill. That's my take. Probably not a low and slow.

I have Eggheads on both sides of me and another across the street. I am not going to worry to much about some BBQ Smoke.
-
Easy solution- they should just make wind illegal.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
-
I'm lucky that I have good neighbors. In fact just last night as I was Egging a pork loin one of them wandered over to say that it smelled great. It also helps that they've been the beneficiaries of my cooking and will be so again on Sunday when I'm hosting a 35-40 person party.

Gotta admit that the radiated expansion of any smoke that comes off my BGE is not a threat to any neighbor. Not because of distance but the smoke generated and travel distance is quite short compared to my prior el' cheapo smoker. YMMV-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.
