Any egg teams headed to Morton, IL?

The fifth annual Morton BBQ Throwdown, a Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned professional barbecue cooking competition is this weekend. Any egg teams going to be there? I see it is limited to just 48 teams and this year they had to turn away 10. Also there is a backyard competition for amateurs...

I'm not going, nor am I a BGE sponsored cook team. I will say that local BBQ competitions are always worth going to in my opinion. If nothing else it's fun to see all the cool cooking rigs. If I was up in that area I would love to go.1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

I agree! I've gone over and walked around a couple years, but can't make it this year. Even stayed once through the awards part which was interesting. Yes to the cool rigs! Looks to be more of a rich man's sport in some cases!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Where in Morton?
-
@QKing It's downtown, around the DQ. Not sure if I will make it or not. Should start moving into our new house. I went last year and it was a great time. Live music next to the VFW, which will have a beer garden.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

@QKing ... Here's their web page with the times and events ... http://www.mortonbbqthrowdown.net/
I have to laugh 'cuz I couldn't find a location on the webpage. Guess that's how you know a town is small. The local paper lists it as being "in an area east of Main Street and south of Jefferson street."

I agree. You have to be pretty well off to afford a 20k Jambo and the RV to pull it! I guess it's all relative though. It's still cheaper than buying a yacht and participating in marlin tournaments. Some people would say that the BGE is a rich mans hobby!RRP said:I agree! I've gone over and walked around a couple years, but can't make it this year.
