OT Fruit Flies!!!

We have been overrun by them the last few days.  Have had no fruits or veggies left out on the counter.  Finally hung some Fly Tape in the house today they are so bad.  Anyone else have this problem and ANY REMEDIES?

Yep, that works - what we do.  You can buy little traps that you can hang - like hummingbird feeders but they're made for killing fruit flies.

We had never had a problem before this year and were overrun with them. Maybe because we had so much rain and a relatively mild winter. We got this bug zapper and it took care of them. http://amazon.com/gp/product/B00I0G0JXE/ It makes a loud pop when it gets an insect, but it's music to our ears.

put saran wrap over the apple cider bowls.  punch many holes with a tootpick.   flies get in can't get out.  add a couple drops of dish soap in the vinegar to kill.  rubber bands can hold the sran wrap tightly on the bowl.  change about every couple days.  needs to be apple cider vinegar.

Up here in wet Illinois we are battling mosquitoes this year! Best we can do is make sure there is no standing water outside. They literally attack you like dive bombers!

If you add 1 drop of dish soap to a several ounce ramekin of almost any vinegar you have a homemade trap the fruit flies can't escape.  The soap removes the surface tension on the liquid so the flies can't stay on top. They drown. Put 4-5 out and you'll get em. Make sure kitchen sink drains are clean of debris too.
