Rutland leakage

Just installed my Rutland gasket and now I'm seeing smoke leak out the front of my egg. I've had this overbite issue, but I never saw smoke leak out with the old gasket. I'll try to re-align. Is there a break in period or anything? Tagging @RRP for his expertise. Just put a 8 lb brisket on. Love these mornings!

Just need to loosen your bands and go at it again is all...unless you don't have an issue holding low temp and in that case, just ignore it.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Did you let the permatex cure? It does look like you have some alignment issues.Large Big Green Egg in a nest. North Shore of Boston.

Looks like the band is way too low on the dome. Loosen and get that sucker up by the green lip. Realign, tighten, should work. The Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. @MJG yes it cured. I was just curious as even with the alignment issues I didn't see smoke leak out. I've been meaning to re align anyway, I'll try that and see what happens.

@SpartanPride... you did remove the upper dome gasket, right? If you didn't then you need to. The Rutland performs just fine with no leakage by itself. I would also recommend loosening your band bolt enough to reposition the dome and then tighten them back down.

Yes it's removed. Will try the bands tomorrow post brisky

@SpartanPride I think the Rutland is more substantial/thicker. As a result u be live that would make your alignment even more off, even if just fractionally, which is why I suspect you now see a leak. I'm sure a little adjustment will take care if that. Rutland is a nice/cheap upgrade.Large Big Green Egg in a nest. North Shore of Boston.
