    How thin does the working edge need to be?

    If I took a 9" length of 2x2 kiln dried maple and rip it corner to corner to make two 45 degree angles each, I would have two scrapers. One angle for steel grates, the other for CI grates, just flip it over and use the same handles.

    @RRP ... it just dawned on me that with the triangular "rods" on your CI, you'll have to hold the paddle at a fixed angle to the surface.  Cut it for perpendicular to the surface and the wood will come away from the sides if the paddle is used at a 45 degree angle. Not really a deal breaker ... just not as handy as it is with round rods.

    I didn't see anyone mention the Martin Grill Gadget? Has been around for several years and my father turned me on to one about 5 years ago for my gasser.. just need to find the right head shape and its awesome.
