finish for our table

Options
A friend and I just finished a huge table for my husband. We have the large egg. The table is made of cypress (with cedar 4s4s). We chose to put a clear stain and then tung oil as the finish. The problem we are having is that when it rain, the puddles leave black marks on the wood. It doesn't wipe off but will sand away. Does anyone have suggestions for how to deal with these horrible black spots? Should we sand it down again and use the sealer we will be using on our deck wood? I think it is called Cabots. We don't want to use varnish or polyurethane.
