anyone have a brick Egg table plan? also question on table nest
new first-time Egg owner. or soon to be. Building a brick (mostly) and cultured stone (accents/top) BBQ island at our home. going to have a small built in gas grill for nights when we don't have the time to do it right with charcoal. and then the Egg a couple feet away...sunk down in the table. going with a medium just due to size of our space and the fact I have the other grill, sink and prep areas to account for.
I see lot of table plans for wood. anyone have a simple brick design they can share. just wondering if people finish the circle cutout for the egg with iron rim to sit on top of or does the egg sit in (but not on) the brick cutout....got a lot questions like that.
also...from Egg dealers here I have had mixed replies. at the base, can the Egg sit right on the brick (or cultured stone)? or do I need a table nest (either for safety or to give it some clearance for moisture)? any info for this newbie is appreciated,
thanks

That gas grill is going to collect dust. Medium is a great cooker by all accounts. You figure out how to get to temp quickly(hi que grate or kick ash basket) and the gasser is storage.
My thoughts are that a lot of people sit their eggs on a concrete paver in a wood table, you should be fine on a non combustible brick table.

No help with the brick table but welcome aboard!

I have seen such set ups and what seems to be most common is they do not cut a hole in a top, but instead the full front of the egg is visible and sits there making it easy to get to and take out if need be. HTH

Here is what I did. The egg is sitting on firebricks. As mentioned above, gasser barely gets used. Especially since I got a mini max.SE PA

nice stonework there! I have seen a few where the top of the dome is the only exposed part, and there is a metal door that can swing open for oxygen and cleaning. I think that is what my wife favors. but may need to compromise. I hadn't thought about ease of removal....like if we want to take in on a trip. good point.
