I try to reply to these things called a post to my wall, which I TOTALLY admit I do NOT understand! Why not just send a PM? OR OR OR will someone PLEASE explain why anybody posts to a "wall" whateverthehellthatmeans! Thank you...and if I failed to answer your "wall" post then I guess this old dummy was looking out the door instead at some "wall"!  Thank you...

END of rant! LOL

It is easy to do by accident.  If you click on someone's profile there is a text input box and a button labeled [Add Comment].  If you use this, then it will add the comment on that same page and it is visible to everyone.   Instead, click [Message] and it will take you to a new screen to send that person a (private) message.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Also, I agree it is a pointless feature and just causes confusion.

You could  edit your profile and change your notification preferences so you get an email when someone writes on your wall so you will get an email if someone contacts you this way.
