CyberQ power supply for Pit Viper fan

I have a CyberQ and a Pit Viper fan. It works really well for smoking, and I never really have a need for it for higher-temp cooks (aside from the fact that the probes aren't rated for high temps). Recently, I was doing a reverse sear and--besides the fact that I didn't want to pull the hot fan & plate out of the bottom vent--I thought it would be useful to have the fan blowing 100% to raise the Egg temp to max as quickly as possible. One way to do that would be just to leave the pit probe outside of the Egg, which should leave the temp control in an open loop condition. However, this doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's the "lid open" feature of the CyberQ... I don't really know and haven't looked into whether disabling it will work. So, I looked around and found some female pigtails on eBay for less than $3 shipped. I soldered two of them together and now have a female-to-female adapter to connect the CyberQ power supply directly to the Pit Viper fan.
I can't think of any reason not to try cooking pizzas or anything else in the upper temp range using the fan... can you?

My LBGE can get to pretty high temps very quickly. This is probably the time to light in 3-4 places to expedite. I just don't feel the need to be force feeding air.. No offense intended at all. NOS injection also not recommended...
I did once consider holes in dome to do spritz injection onto my car wash Mike's ribs. Lol. (I got too much temp rise opening the dome hourly to manually spritz prior to cyberQ use... darn fuel injectors were not too practical but mounting a delivery rail system woulda looked really slick..:-)LBGE, AR. Well, when the idea popped in my head, it was the moment that I had hit the IT for my steaks and then had to pull out the fan assembly to open up the vents. I thought, "if I could just leave the fan in there, this would be easier." So, $3 and five minutes later, I've got this thing.
I almost always light in 3 places for any cook. Maybe I'm just impatient. I have the kick ash basket, but it seems always to take 10 minutes or so to start ramping up from 200 degrees after opening the lid.LBGE | CyberQ | Adjustable Rig | SmokeWare Cap | Kick Ash Basket | Table Build | Tampa, FL -
Interesting Delta, if I light in 1 darn place (MAPP) close the dome with lower vent wide open, I don't have time to go form 2 burger patties before it's getting higher than I need for direct burgers.. Maybe it's the ATL Jawja air? I assume you've verified there's no ash buildup between firebox and egg sides? I just don't get it.. Sorry you have the issueLBGE, AR. Lives in N.E. ATL

Yeah. Like I said, I have the Kick Ash basket, and I've left the coal grate out. When I fire up the CyberQ, the fan kicks on & it still takes plenty of time to get to temp. I also use MAPP gas. I'm currently using BGE coal.
Incidentally, I made some glorious ribeyes again over the weekend. I tried my power supply/fan adapter for the sear... and it didn't work. I haven't tested voltages or polarities on the CyberQ side, but I'm sure of my solder work and the fact that I connected center-to-center. So who knows. I'm just glad it didn't screw up my fan. Worst case, it should have run backwards.
I just left the pit probe out, and the fan stayed on 100% through my sear.LBGE | CyberQ | Adjustable Rig | SmokeWare Cap | Kick Ash Basket | Table Build | Tampa, FL
