Hi All! Just bought an XLBGE and decided to weld up a decent table for large also. I wanted a stable platform where i could put the temp controllers, pans, etc. during the cook. I thought it came out pretty good, i just wished i had gotten it powder coated.

Sweet, what material is the top?

I used 14 ga. Sheet metal, took it almost to the edge of the 1 in. tubing, then laid a bead with the mig welder and ground it down with a flapper disk.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys, hopefully i can be a positive addition to the forum. I've lurked for a long time, but now feel i have enough experience with the egg to lend insight.

What finish is on the top? You could weld some of that 14 gauge below your bottom shelf and then add a drawer slide.

If you don't mind me asking, what did the materials cost you? I'm debating buying vs building and if the price for the materials is high I will probably buy.XL Owner
