Bottom vent doesn't completely close.

No, the bottom vent should close completely. I would check for a small piece of lump or ask buildup in the track it slides in.

Try having the mesh slide on the inside with the solid slide on the outside.

I think your metal slide should run outside of the screen. I had the same problem with mine.

The egg looks used, so this probably didn't come that way.  You probably slid the solid door too far to the right.  One way of preventing this from happening, in the future, is to get someone to help you reposition the egg slightly in the nest so that the large tab on the solid "outer" slide hits the nest leg before it slides completely off the "inner" screen.

Edit: Damn good thing I wasn't born in the 1850's ... I'd of been shot early in life for being such a slow draw.  Geez, four people posted while I typed.

I was gifted a BGE last year and I was having the same problem. It was a 1 minute fix after seeing this
