I want to tighten the bolts on my egg. However, I don't know the size socket I need. I'm actually out now heading to hardware store. Anyone know? Thanks guys.

1/2 " deep socket.
Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution...

Make sure you have an open end 1/2" wrench also. The band bolts are usually bent and the socket won't fit.

Thanks guys. I just did my first four cooks and I was told to tighten everything again. I'm not using a torque wrench and all that crap.

I use 1/2" hollow nut runner and a 1/2" ratchet wrench.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Just tighten everything up and you'll be fine. Set a calendar reminder on your phone to check them again in 3-6 months.

@henapple yep hollow nut runner (vs magnetic so you can get it in as deep as the shaft allows). Yep, it's Friday alright.

THANK YOU for knowing the proper term. It drives me "nuts" when people ask about the "screws" used on eggs and how to tighten them!mjk412 said:Thanks for the info! I'll get to it this weekend.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
