    The butts I have purchased from Sam's have always been two per package.  Maybe yours is different.   I'm going to pickup 4 for this weekend tomorrow.   
    I agree with 4Runner.  Most of the grocery or big box stores carry them in 2 per pack.  If is 15 to 20 pounds it should be 2 from my experience.   Does the package say its a whole should or just pork shoulder/pork butt?  Can you upload a photo of it?

    Up at 5 am to get it started. I used dry rub last night and it sat in the frig last night. It is 2 9lb.you guys got it right.

    27 hours. Started with wings and abts, cooled it down and did two pork shoulders overnight and then brought it back up to temp and did some salmon for a pescatarian that came over. Still had lump left over if I remember correctly. Good luck with your pork shoulders.
