Newbie- to the BGE do I secure it ???

so after years wanting a BGE I finally got one from a co worker who received it as a gift and doesn't need it. Or want it. & he doesn't cook. And   at an unbelievable price.  it's a small , so I put together a cinder block stand and the egg sits nice and secure . My question is theft, any eggs ever stolen , so do I chain it to my deck??? ,  I live in Chicago , not a bad neighborhood not the best, and my deck is exposed to the alley . Hmmmmmm the Chicago native in me will chain down but is it overkill?    Thanks a ton looking forward to my first cook.

Eggs have been stolen. Even larges. A small would be easier yet to still. I don't know what you can do to keep it from being stolen other than storing it inside after it has cooled down.

If someone stole my eggs it would be on!

I think you could run a chain through the rear hinge.  Obviously someone with a wrench could disassemble and steal it but it might be a deterrent.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Why chance it?  Chain through the hinge as mentioned.  If they then take it, you will know they were serious.
And welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.  A game changer.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I've got my large & small tied together with a cable & hefty so called cut proof master lock, if they roll one out the gate they are going to roll em both out.

Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution...
