I used to cook chicken, beef, or pork almost every day (often more than once a day) on my BGE. Then I read The China Study (by T. Colin Campbell) and Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease (by Caldwell Esselstyn). There is real scientific evidence to show that heart disease can be stopped and reversed. Unfortunately, it does not happen with a diet based on moderation. According to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, roughly 86 million Americans are living with some form of heart disease or the after-effects of stroke; heart disease is the #1 leading cause of death. It is clear that moderation kills.

I have been eating a plant-based, whole food diet for 4 years (no meat or fish, no dairy, no added fat, no added sugar; only whole grains, fruit, legumes, vegetables), and I'm still enjoying my BGE. After the 1st ten pages of The China Study, I threw out the left-over chicken wings I had in the fridge from lunch (and they were good!), and haven't looked back. I know it's not the advice you are looking for, and I'm not here to preach (too hard). But I use my BGE to cook beans, vegetables, pizza, breads, etc. and it's perfect for adding beautiful flavour to the foods that I eat. I would just like to say that we are highly adaptable creatures, and the foods that you eat will be satisfying and enjoyable, no matter what they are; it's just a matter of becoming used to what you eat. I don't miss eating meat, even though cooking it on my BGE was a huge part of my hobby-life and enjoyment. I do still enjoy eating great food and cooking regularly on my BGE.
