Gloves

New guy here. Had my BGE for 2 weeks. Just wondering what type of gloves are better. I have never needed gloves or mitts for BBQ'ing, but last time I used the LG BGE I did 5 Rib Eyes @550*. Needless to say it was hard to turn them easily since they took up all the grill space. So I had to spend more time with the tongs trying to turn them over. I was using a pair of old welding gloves and they made it hard to work the tongs. I was wondering if the glove types like Grillinator are any good or should I just try and find some softer welding type gloves.

I use two types of gloves, welders gloves for anything going on inside or atop the firebox. For everything else I use cheap gardening cotton gloves. Simple and effective.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

Pig tail flipper works great for steaks, they usually have a long handle.

I use 16 in oxo tongs with no gloves for most cooks. Only time I use gloves is moving hot stones or grids around. Oh and I use the heat resistant silicone gloves for moving hunks of meat.Raleigh NC, Large BGE and KJ Joe Jr.

Well sounds like I'm on the right track with the welding gloves. Just need some new ones. And I'll just get a pair of smaller soft leather ones if needed.
Thanks.

Pit Mitts. You can get them from Amazon, Lowes, or probably lots of other places.

Don't use these.

They are ok if you need to turn steaks or burgers, but for pulling out or putting in the plate setter when lit welding gloves are the best. Most of the time I am wearing nitrile gloves and that is enough when I want to move pork butts or briskets off of the grill for short distances.
I have a pair of these, but the are too small for my hands. I am thinking of getting the XXL size. They would good for pulling pork or cutting brisket and ribs.
