got this picture from my father who volunteers with the Red Cross fit fire and disaster response in our metro area. He he responded to a house fire, and the Fire Dept quickly determined the source of ignition for the Fire.....
their it little charcoal grill that they were using INSIDE the house AND sitting ON A RECLINER!
As I said, some people are idiots!!!!

Obviously I shortened the process down to make a point. I agree, politicians don't make each specific law, but they have structured liability laws such that "idiots" like our above griller can succeed in court if they choose to sue. Even if they don't go to trial, many companies will simply pay a few thousand dollars out of court because it's cheaper. Plus, if they lose in front of a sympathetic jury, then they opened themselves to a multitude of other claimants.st¡ke said:Politicians don't require those stupid warning labels. Not the best source of info, but here's a good summary from Wikipedia:
Manufacturers can be held liable for injuries caused by their products if the product causes an injury to a consumer and the manufacturer fails to supply adequate warnings about the risks of using the product (such as side effects from pharmacy prescriptions) or if they fail to supply adequate instructions for the proper use of the product (such as a precaution to use safety glasses when using a drill). If the manufacturer fails to supply these warnings, the law will consider the product itself to be defective.

I understand how liability works. I just am pointing out it isn't politicians willfully making laws so that simpletons can profit from their own negligence.
