CI rust

I store my CI grid and daisy wheel cap in my LBGE and have started to develop  rust.  Has never happened before.   Any idea what is causing?

Happy Easter to all!

I keep a light coat of Pam on mine.
  • Yeah I agree. Especially after a high heat cook. Give it a light coat of oil just like you would a cast iron skillet. I usually do it before and after a cook.

I seasoned mine like cast iron, took the wheel apart, rubbed very lightly with flax oil, tossed in the oven for a bake at max setting ~550.  Let it sit in there for 90 minutes or so, then shut it off and let it come down slowly.  I repeated 3 times to get a good season on it.  Since then, i have left mine out in the rain, etc. and never developed rust.  Some steel wool should take the rust right off.

White Vineger will remove it too

I would much rather be able to say I was glad I did than wished I had........

If anybody is near phx and needs rust removed from egg related parts or CI cookware, just message me and I'll take care of it for you.  I do an unrelated type of blasting for my job so I have the equipment on hand.  I realize this is a national forum, but thought I'd offer.

This is a free offer to local or travelling forum members - I'm doing this at no charge and I'm not trying to sell anything.  (and I have no t-shirts to sell).
