is it ok to put the butt in a pan of apple juice? Never tried this, my wife wants me too. Or should I put below the butt on the plate stter

    Completely not necessary. Just an empty pan below the grid will be fine. I guess if you want to evaporate some apple juice to appease the wife it won't hurt anything. Just put a spacer between the pan and the plate setter so the juice/drippings don't burn giving you off flavored cooking environment.
    I raise my kids, cook and golf.  When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.
    Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.
