Hail Damage Prevention

We live in a part of the country prone to hail during the warm months (Colorado Front Range) and this will be my first summer as an egg owner. My egg stood up to the cold winter just fine, but I want to take any necessary precautions to protect my LBGE during the summer. Are these things prone to hail damage or are they generally impervious? If they are prone to damage, are there any reasonable precautions other than moving it into the garage or the like? Mine sits on an uncovered patio.

I would think a simple cover would deaden the blows enough.

Build a little wooden 'roof' with legs to cover the grill?   This doesn't have to be very elaborate but should be heavy enough in the legs to prevent blowing over and damaging the grill THAT way.  
And if on a nest, move it up against the house to at least provide some shielding from THAT direction?

And unless the hail were EPIC, a cover should provide either ALL or the REST of the protection needed.

I just bought a generic cover that fits the table and egg, works great

I don't think I've seen anyone post an Egg here broken due to hail yet, although  I could be wrong. Maybe a cover or two would work. I am thinking if the hail is big enough to break the Egg through one or two covers, the house is going to be your bigger problem.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll spring for a cover. We've had hail big and bad enough to break skylights and picture windows, so I want to at least be able to cook some good barbecue for the Red Cross volunteers.

NO..NO...No..

protect your egg..pack it up and send it to Wisconsin...I will personally make sure it does not have any hail damage..just let me know when its coming

I'd be shocked if hail would do any damage at all to the Egg, even the baseball/softball size you may see.  If it does, the Egg will be the least of your worries.....or your insurance claim, which you can add the Egg to should I be wrong.

I admit up front ... this would be overkill. 

Go down to your local moving company and talk them out of one of their "just about ready to be trashed" packing blankets.  Use the packing blanket under a standard cover.  Should make the egg bullet proof ... figuratively speaking that is.

Keep the egg at 666 degrees and only worry about the gasket:} I think eggs are pretty much impervious to outside elements, just as long as you use it: like everything.
