I was watching this local auction.  The bidding war for this egg seems crazy to me.  The auction is an online estate sale, and the people bidding bought it sight unseen.  I keep thinking of the unfortunate poster last week that bought a used egg and the base turned out to be cracked.  You can get a new egg for a few hundie more at any eggfest with a lifetime warranty.

I'm torn, I suppose I'd consider a used egg - but it would have to be in good condition and no more than half of eggfest prices.  What say you all?

I could have  been more clear.  I was not actually considering it, since I couldn't see it.  I also think, for me personally, $400 would be max, even in great condition.

Last week in Tucson (2 hours south) a guy got $1000 for a used large with a few minor accessories.  It was in great shape, but that is higher $ than an eggfest egg - - -  and of course it had no warranty.

Once again, I'm thankful to this forum - without it, I could be one of these folks overspending on an egg without warranty.

It's an estate sale. I would guess that the "lifetime" warranty is toast. Hehehe

If I bought a second egg the same size as my dealer purchased egg, the warranty on my initially purchased egg would cover my secondary egg if I had no scruples or morals or ethics that is.

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
