I have the best man ever!  Today is my birthday and he shows up with a Lodge Dutch Oven and a pretty sweet Smith and Wesson M&P Shield.  He's going to make me a holster for it when I figure out what purse I want to carry it in.   =)
Not only does he "get" my current Egg obsession but is getting into it with me.
Best birthday EVER!

I'm glad he knows you, I'm pretty sure if I gave that to my wife for her birthday things may have turned out ...differently...

Let's just say the conversation may have gone something like her accusing me of buying her stuff I wanted and leave it at that.

    Lucky girl!
My normal FA is a Sig 226 and I love it.  I just need something small to carry.  I am on the road quite a bit with my daughter and just feel the need to be more protected when it is just the two of us.
Plus, I can carry.  That's all.

@NPHuskerFL  I have a gumbo planned.  I figure I need to break it in RIGHT.  I haven't made gumbo this year and my family is still giving me the stink eye about it.

Happy Birthday! Looks like you're all set :)

Your gifts remind me of a website that used to be around called Guns And Tacos. The guy blogged about his favorite shooting ranges and favorite taco trucks in the Houston area. I'm not into guns, but I found some real taco truck gems from that site.

We do this all the time, especially around the holidays. Its why I don't have a drawer full of ugly ties or other junk.

Oh, so do we. I just don't try to pass my gift for me off as actually for her. :)

    Happy Birthday @Chicklet.

Nice pistol and CI.  My brother has the same Shield.  9mm?
Only con I can see is the manual safety if you use it.  lol
I roll with one in the pipe at all times...even in the Ft Knox, dovetail and trigger safety.

Here's the 45.  Have since added Truglo Tritium TFOs.
Keep it in my pocket with an Alabama Holster.  Long wait time, low price.  Worth it for sure, was only $30.

Enjoy the range time with your new Shield.

    Nice!

My XD-9 is about 1 cm too big to fit in my map pocket in the Porsche,  I really need to put my request in to SWMBO for something more compact next B-day...

My wife would hit me with the CI lid and then shot me if she could figure out how to load and which end to point at me.

    Happy borthday!

    Thanks @nola.

Springfield just dropped a XD Mod 2.  Some good improvements.  Picked one up at the bow shop the other day, felt good in the hand.  They are selling them like hotcakes.  Would be a great option for the Porsche.  Glock has a new single stack in 380 the G42.  Badass.

To avoid that, think Diazepam!

We have a store in the east county that gets press coverage every now and then...

Now, if they were an official Egg dealer too... :)

Yes, 9mm.  I have shot one at the store a few times and knew I had to have it.  The Man works part-time at a huge gun store / range so we get to take full advantage of that.  He's also going to make a kydex holster for me.

I keep one in the pipe too and have never even bothered with a safety.  My Sig does not have one.  I'm a lefty so the safety is always on the wrong side for me anyway.

Hopefully, I can go shoot on Thursday!

Don't you hate it when you come up with a fantastic title for your thread and no one comments on it?  It took me two passes before I saw the irony in the title ... "Fire" things up!  Cool.

    Both are neat gifts.

@Focker Just checked it out on Springfield's site, looks sweet.  I need to hold one, I have big hands.
