Salt block seared scallops with Mint Pea Puree, and steaks

For anniversary dinner we wanted scallops and steaks. Something with a little spring flavor sounded good. We did a mint-pea puree, and seared the scallops on the salt block. They were topped with toasted pine nuts and crispy speck. (The basis of the recipe is from unfussyfare.com)
The salty, crispy speck tasted great with the sweetness of the scallops and peas.
The rest of the dinner was steak, onion, and asparagus. The steaks were at Costco and were labeled choice, but looked better than half of the prime. I feel like butchers sometimes slip a little gift in for people willing to look!

Lovely meal. Is the frame under the Himalayan salt block just a frame, solid tray or what? I have a block several years old and am looking for something to hold the pieces when it finally decides to go. Then they go to the salt grinder. TIA.

@Roadpuke0 fresh asparagus must be incredible. that's very cool that you can grow it. post some pics for us when it's up please!
@tinyfish we figured that would be a few hundred bucks, including baby sitter, to go out. way cheaper at home!
@Richard_Fl it's a frame. my block is cracking, and I'm worried the pieces will fall through the bottom of the frame. i'm thinking i could rig some sort of mesh on the bottom of the frame, like radiator sheet metalChicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle -
While I'm not a fan of mint or peas in my dinner that meal is a 10.

Thanks. about 3 years ago I went to a welding shop to have a frame made with some diamond mesh for the base like you are thinking. Guy wanted $75 shop time. Figured I can buy a few more blocks and still have change for a 6 pak. Perhaps I will find a welder that will trade for some wings or a slab of ribs.

@Richard_Fl I much rather eat at home. I know how clean my kitchen is and how clean my hands are. I enjoy cooking as do all of us here, so when we prepare are food we prepare it with.....dare I say it....love.
With all the food porn we got going on we could open one kick a$$ restaurant! ! -
Looks like a great menu. Great ideas for future cooks.HO HO HOLBGE in Lawrenceville, GA
