Went to my favorite German restaurant tonight with the extended fam, and had an awesome meal. I got Schweinshaxe with mashed potatoes and cabbage (and washed it all down with some Franziskaner). Man was it good. I realized though that it's a nice inexpensive piece of meat that would be even better on the egg! German cooking here I come.
For anyone that's a German food fan, Mountain Brauhaus outside of New Paltz, NY is great - authentic, huge menu, great beer list, and super friendly staff. I just wish it wasn't so far from where I live now!

When you factor in the "inspiration" factor, I'm not so sure that this is "off topic".
That's worth a whirl, IMO. I'm inspired.
(I admire your chutzpah.
I don't think I'd ever take a plate pic in a restaurant. )

Ok, cook that and report back. My dad is a big German food fan(stationed in W. Berlin). We can't get anything close here and I would love to cook something for him.
