Not much has been said about the Billy bar other than from me... Is it a viable product or is it not recommended?LBGE - Nov/'14A Texan residing in Denver, CO.

I did a little research on the Billy Bar and I am leaning that way. I was planning to check my local Egg distributor to see if the have this and if not I will check online. In the meantime, I will be trying the tin foil ball method.

It has been popular over the years. I think the draw back to many people - UNLESS they changed the design - is it cleans just one rod at a time. My Gridlifter by the LawnRanger has grooves and it cleans 2 rods at a time!Eggerty said:Not much has been said about the Billy bar other than from me... Tossed mine today. Thanks everyone for the info. Somehow I had not heard of this being a problem. Wadded up foil for me at least temporarily.

That is true. It can be more time consuming. Does lawnranger still offer the grid lifter? That handle is awesome Ron!RRP said:

I don't have rods with the two-tier grid, so I just use a paint scraper/opener. Gets into the grooves easy enough and scapes it clean pretty good.

Yes - to the best of my knowledge! If you want yours to be unique then ask for the "found wood" option. For instance - look at the personality of this:Eggerty said:

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.
Drive a few hundred miles in any direction, and the experience changes dramatically.

Geez..why clean it. @RRP, why take a chance with any brush? It's not necessary. Scrub with a little foil and egg.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

My grill brush is like a giant clod of hard grease- it is so built up with crud. I don't think a bristle is falling out of that thing.NW IOWA

I've been eyeing those too, but now I'm paranoid, will those possibly shed a steel shaving also?blind99 said:There are a few cases every year in the news. God that would be awful. I found a brush at HD this weekend that's more like a wadded up ball of metal mesh, no bristles, I'm going to give it a try.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle
