Small Egg Plate Setter

edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
I know that there was some Robust discussion around wheter or not the Plate Setter Spring Chicken found would fit into a small. What was the final conclusion?. Also any opinions as to wheter or not the Plate Setter from Orton (small plate setter - 9 1/4" (23.5 cm) inside points 10" (25.4 cm)) would fit as well. it can be seen @ http://www.ortonceramic.com/pyrometric/access_furniture.htm. Cut,[p]We use the 9" BGE deep dish pizza pan, and I'm itching to pick up Chubby's Grate Mates for the most versatile setup for the small that I've seen yet. Is your email the same as it was for the Florida Fest? If so, I can send you the info that he sent me. [p]Pick up the BGE dish, pair it with the Grate Mates and you'll be REALLY pleased with the final setup, I'm SURE!!![p]Tonia

    Cut,
I purchased the plate setter but I still don't have a small BGE to try it on. Someone said they bought one and had to do a big of grinding on it but eventually it worked.[p]A "Plate Setter" as nothing more than a device used by the ceramics industry to hold greenware while it bakes in a kiln. If you have a ceramics supply place nearby, you might check with them to see if they can help. I know they have various size ceramic discs that could be used as pizza stones. Most of the time the items are inexpensive.[p]Good luck.[p]Spring "Getting Hungry" Chicken

    QBabe,
Hey Q Babe, whats up. I just purchased 3 of those GrateMates from Chubby this morning. I'm going to use 2 and give one to my friend Ron. (he was at dr. bbq's school with me last year) That set up looks like its about as good as you can get. See-Yaa

    Hi Mike!

Don't those look like the coolest things ever! I haven't ordered mine yet, only because I finally had to break down and buy a new wardrobe, LOL!

Maybe I'll get that Deluxe set for my birthday, or can you get 4th of July presents???

Beers to you and Ron. Say hi for me...

<p />Cut,[p]Go for Chubby's Grate Mates. Here's a pic of the prototype. The finished product has a baked on black finish.[p]GrateMates2.jpg
Here it is with the BGE deep dish pizza pan[p]GrateMates3.jpg
    Now with the grid.[p]GrateMates4.jpg
And you can use a pie pan for a drip pan.[p]It's the sweetest setup for those of us with Small BGEs![p]Cheers,[p]GrillMeister

    Chubby,
Do they work for a large and where can I get them?

jackbythesea,[p]No...the GrateMates are all "size specific".[p]Part of the design is to utilize the BGE fire
ring and the outside "sweep" of the shell to make the fit tight and stable.[p]All the Eggs have different dimmensions and angles as you can immagine![p]I do have something a bit different in store for the "Large"... but it's not there yet.[p]Thanks for the querry though!![p]Evans

Very slick solution, Chubby. And well illustrated GrillMeister (I couldn't tell how it worked from earlier photos). You gotta love a problem solved.[p]Good luck,

WilliamH,[p]I, for one, will be ordering mine shortly. That looks AWESOME and beats my several brick method by a lot.
