The alignment of the bands and the placement location on the ceramics is key. I would go to your local store and get some spacers and try that first. If the bands are pushed too far onto the ceramics and the gap between them gets too large, it can throw the alignment of the lid off.

@Dmax007 I had the same problem on my large I tried everything, and I finally fixed it today. My problem wad that my lower band was farther away from the opening( lower on the egg) at the hinges. It had slid down approx 1/4 in. I loosened my bands and hinge- be sure to zip tie the hinge or use the white piece that came with-Todd

Cont- slid the band up. Using the red spacers from my dealer I realigned and now it's fixed. This may not be your problem but I hope it helps sorry about the 2 part post my iPad if freaking out!-Todd

Oh... Forgot to mention. I have the large. I've only had it a bit over two weeksLarge

Two weeks if the dealer assembled it and delivered they may come out and realign. My dealer has been known to do that.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Just for kicks and giggles I wonder if anyone has taken pictures say from a year or two ago to be compared to the bands currently having this problem. I've been around for a while and this problem has become so wide spread I have to wonder if BGE changed manufacturers again.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Good point @RRP . Mine was a newb issue 7 months of opening the lid and apparently the lower band not tight enough it slipped down in the back. It was really hard to notice I had to look in between the hinge brom the back, but it sure does seem like a common issue-Todd

Thanks Todd. I am serious, though. I know of at least one other company which out sources manufacturing to China and even the Chinese companies out source production! Specs are not adhered to and unless there is quality inspection on the BUYERS part then the cheapest Chinese manufacturer will get to sneak it through!RiverDoc said:Good point @RRP .
