BGE Pizza Stone & Cleaning

Does anyone own a BGE pizza stone? If so, has anyone cleaned the stone in their home oven? I have a fibrament stone, which I used in my home oven, and cleaned the stone when I cleaned my oven with no breakage, problems whatsoever. Any info on whether or not the BGE Pizza Stone can be cleaned in a home oven, please advise

I've had NO problem heating up my BGE pizza stone to temps above 1000F to clean it and when I come out the next AM to check on a cooled down Egg, the stone looks like new

In 15 years of heavy use I have never cleaned mine. It is a rich shiny black. If there are any runs or burnt crud I use putty knife to scrape them off and a paper towel to finish it. Why do you feel a need to clean it?Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time!

Thanks for the input! Appreciate the quick answers.

I've been using mine to fill in a plate setter gap so it's gotten lots of good drippings on it. When it gets hot I just scrap it off with my grill brush. No problems so far and pizzas still taste greatMemphis, TN ----> Chattanooga, TN

Forgot to answer your question about cleaning the stone. I just always cleaned my fibrament stone so it's just a habit I got into and thought I'd also clean the BGE stone when needed.

When I sold my large egg the pizza stone was filthy so I did a clean burn with the stone down on the spider so the stone was probably 800 plus degrees and it cracked it.
