I could help you with that my friend. In fact it would be my pleasure to. It's like decorating but, with food and the plate is your canvas. The toughest thing for me to overcome was sometimes less is better for presentation. 9x outta 10 after the photo op I pile on more  
And lighting and angles are key (this coming from a guy that takes nothing but crappy cellphone pics---on second thought maybe my advice is not the best idea   ).

Straight overhead shots tend to be less flattering to your masterpiece. Try soft lighting with and without flash and at different angles and focus at different points/focal points. Use sauces, herbs or even rubs as  plating enhancements.

Think of it as a Centerfold. The Centerfold is the coupe de Gras of the entire magazine. Make your pic that Centerfold without the pesky bio that nobody really reads
