Temperature Measurement

I have made an interesting and CHEAP discovery.
I bought a DVM (Digital Volt Meter) for yet another of my hobbies and BOY was it cheap for all the features.
One in particular is a 'Type-K' Thermocouple input. It is to the Standard and ANY Type-K Male connector will work just fine.
The meter comes with about 30" of cable terminated with the correct connector. It is an inespensive OPEN couple and not for immersion in any of the nasties but rather good for measuring temp in the Fridge or cooler or even outdoors.
I stuck the couple about 3" into the Egg and wrapped the cable around the side table and it didn't BUDGE at all.
And it read about 25f or so beneath the dome gauge. And stayed that way no matter what.
The Meter? Bought at Harbor Freight and is a model # 37772 and is ONLY 25$ which is a bargain. I dipped the probe tip in boiling water and it read 101c, which is certainly within cal limits.
OMEGA will have a variety of OTHER thermocouples including stainless sheathed good for immersion and simply being used for the ENTIRE cook.
Let me know if this helps ANYONE.

Does the meter have an output that will feed into a computer? If so, then you have an inexpensive A-to-D converter. You can do some data capture, plotting and other neat stuff?

That would be a LOT to ask of a 25$ meter! But I hear 'ya. years ago I had a 6 channel charter / plotter for temp measure recording of furnaces used in semicondutor processing.
Later, the whole thing was obsoleted by a computer which plugged in and was FAR more flexible.
I was thinking a 2-input TC with a switch so I could read grill level or meat?
