OT: Shoutout to Blendtec

Awhile back the subject of high end blenders came up. I ended up buying a Blendtec Total package w/Wildside+ & Twister jar.

Anyway, it smelled "hot" at first. I did some research and found this is normal initially. It never got better and there was a black residue from underneath the motor base occasionally. I finally got time to call them about it. After some troubleshooting they put me on hold and then came back with my options. I had purchased it from Costco so I knew I could return it as worst case scenario.
Since this model is no longer manufactured my options were:
A ) Return for repair
B ) Ship me a factory repaired model
C ) Ship me a new Classic 560 base

I chose C, they then checked stock and it was back ordered. Since I had purchased so recently they did not want me to have to wait, so they gave me the option of a 575 instead. They are shipping me a brand new 575 base and I send back my Total base that is making grinding motor noises and smells like an electrical fire.

I just wanted to post here as this is how customer service should work.

Saw a demo at Sam's a while back and if I did not already have a VitaMix, I would have bought the Blendtec. Love the VitaMix so no need for the Blendtec, but if I ever need another super blender, it will probably be a Blendtec. Good for them and you for their customer service.

If we are sharing customer service stories, I pulled out my All Clad slow cooker a few weeks ago to keep some egged pulled pork warm (which i do a couple of times a year).  The electronics were fine, but the heating element had conked out.

I contacted the company, and even though it is three years out of warranty, they said they would replace it as "a courtesy".  All the communication was via email, and they emailed me a packing slip.  Another great company.

We have a blendtec also, and haven't used it as much as I should.  I think the counter is at about 40 uses.  My wife has just started using it daily for smoothies, and when putting it away yesterday I noticed there is quite a lot of metal dust on top of the base.  The shavings are obviously coming off of the splined shaft on the jug portion, or the coupling part of the motor.

Have you guys experienced this?  Part of me thinks it possibly normal, just in the break in stage still, but I'm not sure?

I looked at a Blendtec at Sams a month ago. I don't know the model, but I felt it wasn't built as robust as my Vitamix and it was a little more than I paid for my Vitamix. Just my .02.
Glad they are making good for yours. Hope it serves you with no problems.
