Nice butts and fast cars

The in-laws surprised us this weekend with a visit from South Florida to ksmyrl's humble abode in the ATL. They called on Thursday and said "we are coming to see you". So tonight we have 12 folks coming over for BBQ. Good thing we keep some butts on hand at all times. These are kind of small but at 8 lbs total weight we should be fine.

Oh, and the reason for the visit...the father in law had to pick up his new toy.

Thanks guys. @4Runner The car is a 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06. 650HP 7 speed manual tranny, 0-60 in under 3 seconds. It's crazy. The butts...one is 5 lbs and one is 3.5lbs. I put the smaller one on top just now to keep it from getting done too long before the other one.

My FIL has always wanted a vette. He recently sold his motorcycle and figured it was time. I'm happy for him, he's worked hard his entire life. Time to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

@ksmyrl what accessory are you using to get your cast iron grate up that high? I use some old bricks, but that only gets the grate to be about even with the bottom part of the egg. I have the large egg

I bought it from my local Ace Hardware because it was on a 50% off clearance. It's okay and does the job, but it doesn't fit perfectly. I use it for slow cooks and for raised direct stuff as well. Without the PS in it raises the grate to the felt line.

Thank god it's manual transmission!!!  Nothing else compares when you are in complete control of the car.  I cringe when I see a sports car with an automatic transmission.  I think the pork butt deserves a few minutes behind the vettes steering wheel!

@WeberWho? Agree 100%. I read that an automatic tranny in a car like that actually hurts the resale value. He's let me drive it a few times this weekend and it's not even funny how fast it is.

I love that car, especially the stingray. It's the first vette I've wanted to own other than the really old ones. Awesome looking car!

Well, if you call pork butt euphoria taking care of her then okay. This is what was left of 8 lbs of pork. I used a new rub for the first time. It's by far my new favorite. Southern Soul Dust. Best I've done to date. Anyway, it still isn't as good as driving the Vette.

I agree.  I was tempted to buy the automatic if I could find a car with everything else I wanted because SWMBO doesn't know how to drive a standard.  Ended up buying the standard.  You are a Zen one with the engine and car.   SWMBO can drive my truck with the automatic.  You ain't learning on my gears! 

That said, butt looks terrific and I love the FIL's Z06.  I love cars and bikes and that's a sweet supercar.
