OT - BBQ In Jacksonville, FL

Hopefully @NPHuskerFL  will chime in here. I'm in God's country (tween Savannah and JAX) for a few days and would appreciate some restaurant recommendations. Dinner is in Jacksonville tomorrow night.  Something off the beaten path, where locals go. BBQ and/or seafood? Thanks in advance.

I'll chime in here...Depends on where in town you'll be.. JAX is huge...

Seafood in Mayport/Arlington Area/Beaches -- Seafood Kitchen, The Fish Co., Salt Life, Singletons

BBQ -- Any of the Mojo locations, 4Rivers (Baymeadows or HWY17)

A few other places that are notably good -- clarks fish camp, Caps on the Water (fun experience), Whiteys fish camp, Ragtime, Cruisers...and I'm sure I've missed some.

Jax is huge. Whitey's Fish Camp which is my neck of the woods is awesome too. Lots of good restaurants in Jax and surrounding areas.

Brian named a good bit. I'll second Ragtime which is one of our accounts. They have good nightlife, brew their own beer and have great food. Same goes for Whitey's minus the brewery.

There really are a lot of options, just not all BBQ....Especially once you get down into St. Augustine.

Agree! Perhaps a few of us can meet up?  When are you talking about being in Jax?

man...my bbq fav is MOJO's bbq. They have amazing bbq.  They have four locations in the Jacksonville area. The burnt ends are amazing as an app. Do not go to bono's! No idea about seafood. Good luck

@CasperAU1 these are all great recommendations. which one is your best?

@CasperAU1Good call on your list. I totally forgot to mention those. But, especially Barbara Jeans their Crab Cakes are phenomenal. I used to do their refrigeration and would ALWAYS get a to go meal.  LuLu's on Roscoe Blvd in PVB is good as well. ManyMany good seafood spots. Far more seafood than BBQ here but I'd say Jenkins BBQ is right up there.

Oh man...long before I began egging Southern Soul was one of my all time favorite bbq joints. I now understand just how good it really is. Worth the 1.5hr drive from JAX to SSI. I bought some of their sauce and dry rub today also. But I will say...I'm surprised their sauce is mustard based. They call it GA Soul Sauce (they have a hot and a sweet), but it's the first GA place I've ever see with a mustard sauce. But it's darn good. And their fried okra...nom nom nom.
