Hi Everone,
Just got my 1st egg today, will fire it up tomorrow with a standing
chicken. I'm so excited can't sleep. Counting chickens and briskets doesn't seem to help. Anyway, just wanted to say hello from Fla and can't wait to get started.

    FlaMike,
Welcome! There are quite a few Floridians on here. I myself and a Tampon.
Please stick around, we have a FL Eggfest each year and if this pattern continues, we should have 300+ next year.
We would love to see you there.

    FlaMike,
Welcome Mike! You have some wild adventures ahead. Set the forum to your opening homepage, get out your notepad, and don't hesitate to post any questions you have. A half hour almost never goes by without an answer of some kind, and you usually have 3 or 4 to digest. Quite a lineup of good cooks around here.[p]What is your favorite beverage to drink while Qing?
    Cheers

groundfish, got a free 20 lb bag of red oak, and some fire starter sticks. I'll use them up, then decide what else to try. The red oak gets pretty good reviews. i'll be using it for the first time in just a few minutes. if I can pry my fingers from this keyboard.

FlaMike,[p]Welcome! We're north of Gainesville in Gator Country. You'll find that getting an egg changes your life. It sure did mine! When my hubby Brutus got the first cooker several years ago, I had no idea what it even was. Now we have a Mini, Small, Medium and 2 Large ones and host the annual Florida Eggfest in Ocala. Hope you can join us next year (in March)![p]Cheers,

    FlaMike,
i have used the royal oak, beware of rocks in it. i found 1 in each bag. i've heard some speculate that the rocks get in the holes in the firebox - expand/explode - and crack/break your firebox. [p]i've ordered the wicked good and it was wicked good and i found picnic brand lump at a foodstar once. it was excellent too. if you get addicted maybe we can split a pallet of wicked good someday. shipping is killer for only 4 bags. be aware that your damper and daisy wheel settings are likely to be different with different brands of lump.
