new knife

had the blade for maybe 15 years, finally made a handle for it =) some projects take longer than others B)





even had time to dig the mailbox out

    pretty simple, draw out the top and bottom shape, sand down to the line, draw out the side and sand again then shape it. sanded down to 600 grit and carve out the inner slot with drill and saw on my swiss army. used a clear danish oil on it to get it to pop, will use renaissance wax to polish it up later. still needs to be epoxied in. wood is cocobola, seems im really allergic to it, google says a week before the itching stops =) its kinda like a finnish puukko design

    wish there was a place up here with classes, i pretty much have all the needed equipment to make the blades, just lack some knowhow

    the dutch oil worked well, maybe 6 coats last night. the wood working place i bought it from said to buy renaissance wax for the top coat but didnt stock it.

    Cool. But I thought you didn't like paring knives. :) Well, at least now you can cut up some pares. LOL

    I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

    this is the only time of the year that my yard looks as good as the neighbors, the rest of the year im that guy in the neighborhood with the seedy yard. =)

    I love the snow, fish. It's supposed to be below 0 in the morning tomorrow. Nothing better than feeling that chill hit your face and taking a breath.

    warm weather and maybe some rain come sunday. people down south dont seem to understand ceilings caving in from the leaks, fingers crossed, my roof was due for replacement maybe 15 years ago. i gotta do it this year, fingers crossed. i hate spring, hoping it stays cold til summer

    Have not worked on mine in a couple of months. Got to walk to the end of the block. walk the end of the block and get back on it.
