Super Bowl cook, victory from the jaws of defeat
Cooked my usual chicken breasts for the week in the vain hope of actually losing weight. In addition, and in honor of the Big Game, I snaked some filet mignons from the father in law and set about cooking them. Did the chicken breast at 325-350 for 40-42min indirect and they turned out pretty awesome. I did indirect on the filets until internal temp approached 105-110 and then tried to get the temp up for zee sear. No matter what I did I could not get the temp up above 400-425 degrees. Strange deal, maybe not enough lump? Regardless, I upped my time to about 3.5 minutes per side and they turned out pretty damn awesome. Apologies for crummy cell phone pics. Wife made her awesome mushrooms and some brussels. Life was grand.
