DIY Raised Grid For Large BGE

Bought 17" grate, four 5" bolts, 12 washers, and 12 nuts. Total cost at HD = $22. Super easy and fits rock solid. Direct it puts grate an inch over felt. I haven't tried I direct with plate setter.

Looks exactly like the way I did mine! Worked great for over three years before I ponied up and bought the adjustable rig. I resorted to this method after my plate setter broke after two years, that thing sucked.

Exactly what's in our LBGE. I borrowed the idea from a Canadian egger site who's name escapes me at the moment. All stainless steel, works great with the elevated pizza stone. Great pies. JC

It's hard for me to tell on the pic... Do you bolt it to the bottom grate, or does it just sit on it?

The end of the bolt and nut goes through the bottom grate and is supported by the washer. Rock solid! Whipped up a ribeye, sweet potato with butter & brown sugar, and half a head of grilled romaine with EVOO, balsamic, S&P, and Parmesan. Delicious!!!!
