Getting the Wok Hot - Mongolian Beef

Thread of the day. Good thing it wasn't a wok throwdown.LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

I like it a lot.

This has inspired me to get a wok setup from CGS. I will start wok cooking again! I love good Mongolian beef and gave up making it at home. Never can get the flavor and textures right.
-
Well played, Mattman! My favorite wok meal is MB. It is one of 4 meals that I can pig out on until it's all gone! I do believe in moderation so that I can eat what I want when I want it, but these meals I ask my wife to watch me and take my fork away if I'm still speeding and no speed bump is in sight.LOL
-
I do the moderation thing too @rrp Most of my wok cooks are 2 servings intentionally because I would eat till it's gone. I've kinda been on a wok kick lately and really enjoying it.
Thanks for all the compliments guys.

And the wallet gets thinner. Woks not bad, but what do I need, a spider?
-
Yep. I got the D handle wok from CGS and the Woo3 but I decided to cut the spider loose from the woo and it made using the wok much more enjoyable. I and thinking about getting a wok with a handle for the large. I have a flat bottom I use every once in a while on the small but I prefer the large for Wokking.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. So why is there a 3 and a 5 prong spider? When I get a wok I'll just get one of those I presume, but an curious what the benefit is of each one?LBGE | Conroe, TX

I think that has to do with the notches in the fire ring in your egg. If I recall correctly. If you give CGS a call they will help you get the right one for your egg.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Matt is right. The older fire rings had the 5 notches. New ones have 3.tisoypops said:So why is there a 3 and a 5 prong spider? When I get a wok I'll just get one of those I presume, but an curious what the benefit is of each one?
