First Pork butt – goofed up a little
5.75 pork shoulder (bone in).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Rubbed 24 hours in advance with following rub:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup salt
1 cub Hungarian paprika
4 Tbsp. garlic powder
4 Tbsp. onion powder
4 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
Preheat egg to 240. 3 cups of apple wood chips. Added drip pan with apple cider vinegar and water.
9 pm. Added pork shoulder – IT 43 degrees.
11:12 – egg 220 IT 112
Opened the daisy wheel a little – mistake I guess.
12:27 AM – egg 255 IT 134
Set an alarm for 2:00 AM and never heard it go off
4:55 AM – egg 295 (oops) IT 191
Closed daisy wheel to 10%
5:30 AM – IT 199
Foil towel cooler.
8:30 AM – pulled apart nicely. Probably not perfect but I loved it!! I’m sure I can do better but this came out great!!

Thanks everyone. I've just had the last of it for lunch and its on sale for $1.99 per pound so i'll probably do another one this weekend. Was going to try a brisket but I think I'll wait till i get a better thermometer and a little more practice with maintaining temp. Really loving the egg so far!!!XL BGE & Mini - CT USA
