Super Easy BGE Table (Legume thanks for the help!)
Here is a super easy BGE table to build. I purchased the legs from Home Depot for $41.00 - they are Edsal work bench legs. (you get 2 legs one for each end for the $41.00) They were gray, so I painted them with Rustoleum dark green paint and they match the egg perfectly. I did have to order them and delivery took 2 weeks. You can order at home from the internet too. Then you just purchase the wood, screws and paint or stain. You can make the table as long as you want by the length of wood you purchase. I did not have plans, just winged it. Since I built it in December of 2014, I have added a stainless towel holder (old fridge handle that looks really nice) and some hooks for tools. I also added casters so I can roll it. Keep in mind if you add casters that you will need to drill new holes closer to the main leg in the center. The wood and egg are too heavy to use the existing holes and the feet will start to bend. The base wood is 2x4's turned on their side and screwed together. This gives the necessary support to the egg and makes the table solid. Total project is under $100.

For winging it I'd say well done. Always good to see different options.

looks great - I like my XL in the nest, but I want a table for work area and storage that I can scoot up next to it and this way I can match the style to my deck - love it, thanks for sharing
Love you bro! -
Legume, thanks for the posting help - my first one, so no longer a virgin, but it was painful.

Thanks for the info. I just got a large and have been looking for economical table ideas. On a side note, I bet you could tie the legs of the table together by adding some flatbar and bolting the casters through the flatbar and legs to add strength and stability.

Thats a great looking table.. =D>Greensboro North Carolina

Shanker1, I actually was going to get stainless or aluminum angle iron and make it the same size as the foot with the "L" shape going toward the back. This solution will work also. Not sure I wanted a straight piece going all the way across the front and back, but it would work.

Here is a pic showing the stainless steel refrigerator door handle I added as a towel rack.

On the Home Depot site, they sell the pieces to ties the legs together to make it stronger.

@SanDiegoMike Thanks for posting, Mike! I can see buying these legs in my near future. That's a great looking table.

r8rs4lf, it's not the legs that need additional support with the casters, it's the feet. Look at the picture. You will see I made an additional hole closer to the leg and in the center of the foot. The additional leg support devices you mention are nice but I wanted to use wood.

Shanker, please post a picture when you complete your table. Keep in mind they are gray. I painted mine with dark green Rustoleum spray paint.

Right on Mike! I think this is the route I'll be going as soon as we get this contract figured out. I have a workbench in my garage that looks to be using those same legs. It uses 6 though.
I don't plan on installing casters on mine though. -
r8rs4lf, please post a pic - would love to see your end product.

I repurposed finials from a patio glider, painted them with dark green Rustoleum and screwed them into the front of my Big Green Egg table to use as tool hangers.
-
Just about complete - full frontal picture showing stainless steel towel bar from an old refrigerator and the finials. I still need to add the BGE bottle opener and build a detachable lazy susan.
-
Finials are an interesting idea! Will have to keep my eyes out for some. Or maybe some of the old glass powerline insulators.......

Dave, glass powerline insulators would look great on the table! Maybe as a salt pig. Might try to make some type of cradle and then place one on it. Will let you know how it turn out if I do it.
Thanks!

No worries.... I think I can get my hands on some for my upcoming build.... That is a cool look!
