Blast Off!!!!!

Last night after i finished cooking on the Egg I shut it down. Wifey comes to ask if I could cook some burgers, and I told her I would go see if it still had any fire. Looked in the Egg real quick a couple of times and shut the lid still had ambers. Going to tell the wife okay when BOOM!!!!! my Smokeware cap looked like a Alien Space ship taking off. If I had to guess it went at least 20-25 feet in the air. Moral of the story be VERY careful my friends!!!!

@johnmitchell‌ When I looked inside I let some oxygen in, and when I shut the lid it trapped the oxygen in and the combustion made pressure and it had to go somewhere, so out the top it was.

I was just kidding on the pics. Think I read about this once before that's pretty scary. I worry about the bottom vent what if you had that open some the flames would have come out there and if you happened to be there or a kid or something it would be bad.

No joke on the bottom vent @lit. I've gotten my leg hair singed by that once before. No Bueno!!

+1 on the bottom vent flashback. Very scary and I lost a lot of leg hair wearing shorts when it happened.

I'm glad you didn't get hurt, nothing damaged, but 'splain me this - why did the pressure build up this time but it's not a prob when you shut all the vents at the end of a cook?

I think because it wasn't a hot fire, just some ambers.
